Original WWII Dutch NSB photo – Funeral of Hendrik Koot

The NSB photo is in good condition and shows the funeral of  W.A. member Hendrik Koot.
Koot was a member of the National Socialist Movement (NSB) and active in the Amsterdam WA, the Resilience Department of the NSB.
On 11 February 1941 he participated in a provocative action, in which a group of about 45 WA men marched through the Amsterdam Jewish quarter.
A communist thug was warned and came to the aid of the Jews.
The goons broke open warehouses around the Waterlooplein to arm themselves with iron objects that could be used as clubs and a clash came. People hit each other with batons, blackjacks and iron bars, among other things.
When the police found his body, Koot had a self-made life preserver (a rubber hose, weighted with iron) in his hand, which was strapped around his wrist.
He was transported to the Binnengasthuis, where serious head injuries were found, most likely caused by an object such as an iron bar, a club or an axe. He died on February 14, 1941, without regaining consciousness.

Originele WWII Nederlandse NSB foto begrafenis Hendrik Koot

De NSB foto is in goede conditie en daarop is de begrafenis van W.A. lid Hendrik Koot te zien.
Koot was lid van de Nationaal-Socialistische Beweging (NSB) en actief in de Amsterdamse WA, de Weerbaarheidsafdeling van de NSB.
Op 11 februari 1941 participeerde hij in een provocerende actie, waarbij een groep van omstreeks 45 WA-mannen door de Amsterdamse jodenbuurt marcheerde.
Een communistische knokploeg werd gewaarschuwd en schoot de Joden te hulp.
De knokploeg brak opslagplaatsen rond het Waterlooplein open om zich te bewapenen met ijzeren voorwerpen die als knuppels gebruikt konden worden en het kwam tot een treffen.
Men sloeg op elkaar in met onder andere wapenstokken, ploertendoders en ijzeren staven. Toen de politie zijn lichaam aantrof, had Koot een zelf-vervaardigde ploertendoder (een rubber slang, verzwaard met ijzer) in de hand, die met een riempje om zijn pols zat.
Hij werd naar het Binnengasthuis vervoerd, waar zwaar hoofdletsel werd geconstateerd, naar alle waarschijnlijkheid veroorzaakt door een voorwerp als een ijzeren staaf, een knuppel of een bijl.
Op 14 februari 1941 overleed hij, zonder bij kennis te zijn gekomen.
