The text refers to the earlier call issued under Dienstorder Nr. 517 of 1 April 1942 and instructs NS personnel to register nonetheless.
The requested occupations are listed, including track inspectors, locomotive drivers, fitters, electricians and unskilled labourers.
Included as an attachment is the accompanying ‘Aanmeldingsformulier’, a registration form for name, date of birth, occupation, place of work and residence.
The form also contains the declaration of willingness to be employed by the Deutsche Reichsbahn under the conditions described in Dienstorder No. 517.
At the bottom of the document is a strip for confirming receipt of the copy of Dienstorder Nr. 535.
The Nederlandsche Spoorwegen (NS) was the main Dutch railway company during the Second World War and was used by the German occupier for transport within occupied Netherlands.
The Deutsche Reichsbahn was the national railway company of Germany and recruited workers from occupied countries during the war for employment within Germany itself.
In 1944 the NS management called on its personnel to go on strike in support of the Allied advance, an action known as the Spoorwegstaking (Railway Strike).
An interesting document for the collector of Dutch wartime occupation history.
