Original WWII Dutch NBS photo Prins Bernhard in Rotterdam

Original WWII Dutch photograph of Prince Bernhard during a visit to Rotterdam in May 1945.
The photograph shows Prince Bernhard in uniform surrounded by members of the Dutch NBS resistance forces and other people present.
An armed member of the Binnenlandse Strijdkrachten can be seen on the left, while a man wearing an ‘MP’ armband is visible on the right.
The photograph was taken outside a building where a sign reading ‘INGANG N.B.’ can be seen above the entrance.
The reverse bears the handwritten Dutch inscription ‘Prins Bernhard verlaat het hoofdkwartier na NBS + Rdam. na zijn bezoek op zondag 27 mei’.
This dates the photograph to Sunday 27 May 1945, only a few weeks after the liberation of the Netherlands.
During this period Prince Bernhard was Commander of the Netherlands Armed Forces and played an important role in connection with the Dutch Binnenlandse Strijdkrachten.
The photograph provides an interesting historical image of Prince Bernhard and members of the NBS in liberated Rotterdam.
The photograph is in used condition with signs of use and remnants on the reverse which are clearly visible in the photos.
The dimensions are approximately 18 x 13 cm.

Originele WWII Nederlandse foto van Prins Bernhard tijdens een bezoek aan Rotterdam in mei 1945

Op de foto is Prins Bernhard in uniform te zien, omringd door leden van de Nederlandse Binnenlandse Strijdkrachten en andere aanwezigen.
Links staat een gewapend lid van de Binnenlandse Strijdkrachten en rechts is een man met een ‘MP’ armband zichtbaar.
De foto werd genomen bij een gebouw waar boven de ingang een bord met ‘INGANG N.B.’ zichtbaar is.
Op de achterzijde bevindt zich de handgeschreven tekst ‘Prins Bernhard verlaat het hoofdkwartier na NBS + Rdam. na zijn bezoek op zondag 27 mei’.
Hiermee is de foto gedateerd op zondag 27 mei 1945, slechts enkele weken na de bevrijding van Nederland.
Prins Bernhard was in deze periode Bevelhebber der Nederlandse Strijdkrachten en speelde een belangrijke rol bij de Binnenlandse Strijdkrachten.
De foto vormt een interessant historisch beeld van Prins Bernhard en de NBS in het bevrijde Rotterdam.
De foto verkeert in gebruikte conditie met gebruikssporen en resten op de achterzijde die duidelijk op de foto’s zichtbaar zijn.
De afmetingen bedragen circa 18 x 13 cm.
