Original WWII Dutch liberation metal plaque 1945

This original Dutch liberation plaque from 1945 is a remarkable historical commemorative object issued to mark the liberation of the Netherlands at the end of the Second World War.

The plaque features the Dutch national coat of arms at the center, depicting the crowned lion holding a sword and a bundle of arrows, placed on a blue shield and topped with the royal crown. Surrounding the coat of arms are decorative branches and ornamental elements, with the date 5 May 1945 displayed at the top — the day the Netherlands was officially liberated. At the bottom appears the well-known Dutch national motto “Je Maintiendrai.”

Measuring 10 x 7.5 cm, the plaque has a compact size that made it suitable to keep as a personal memento of the liberation.

Deze originele Nederlandse bevrijdingsplaquette uit 1945 is een bijzonder historisch herinneringsobject dat werd uitgegeven ter gelegenheid van de bevrijding van Nederland aan het einde van de Tweede Wereldoorlog.
De plaquette toont centraal het Nederlandse rijkswapen met de klimmende leeuw met zwaard en pijlenbundel, bekroond door de koninklijke kroon en geplaatst op een blauw schild.
Rondom het wapen bevinden zich sierlijke takken en decoratieve elementen, met bovenaan de datum 5 Mei 1945, de dag waarop Nederland officieel werd bevrijd. Onderaan staat de bekende Nederlandse wapenspreuk “Je Maintiendrai”.
Met een formaat van 10 x 7,5 cm heeft de plaquette een handzaam formaat dat destijds geschikt was om te bewaren als herinnering aan de bevrijding.
