Original WWII British SOE/Resistance Receiver Telesonic (1943)

This British SOE/Resistance Receiver Telesonic is a rare and authentic object from the world of clandestine warfare in Europe.
This compact, military-green receiving unit was supplied in 1943 and used both by the Special Operations Executive (SOE) and various resistance groups operating behind enemy lines.

The Telesonic receiver was developed to provide completely silent, one-way communication from a central command post to dispersed sabotage and engineer teams, without using wireless signals that could be intercepted by the enemy. Instead, the system operated through audio-frequency induction: a boosted voice message was transmitted through a large cable loop (“Transmitter Telesonic”), after which the receiver picked up the signal using a special induction coil—visibly wound around the exterior of the unit—and amplified it with an internal four-stage amplifier. Historical sources also confirm that this type of receiver was used by resistance groups for inductive eavesdropping on telephone lines.

The case shows clear wartime markings, including “Receiver Telesonic Y.A. 4913”, the serial number, and “Year of Supply 1943”, applied in white stencil lettering.
The sturdy metal housing is fitted with the original cable windings, metal fasteners, volume control, and connection points for headphones and coil pick-up.
The interior still contains the complete instruction label with detailed operating directions.
The unit shows wear and age-related marks but remains in very good, authentic condition.

Deze Britse SOE/Resistance Receiver Telesonic is een zeldzaam object van de geheime oorlogsvoering in Europa.
Dit compacte, militair-groene ontvangerkastje werd in 1943 geleverd en gebruikt door zowel de Special Operations Executive (SOE) als diverse verzetsgroepen achter vijandelijke linies.
De Telesonic-ontvanger werd ontwikkeld voor volledig stille éénrichtingscommunicatie vanuit een centraal commando naar verspreide sabotage- en engineersteams, zonder gebruik te maken van draadloze signalen die door de vijand konden worden opgevangen. In plaats daarvan werkte het systeem via audiofrequentie-inductie: een versterkte spraakboodschap werd uitgezonden via een grote kabel­lus (“Transmitter Telesonic”), waarna de ontvanger het signaal oppikte met een speciale inductiespoel zichtbaar om de buitenzijde van de kast gewikkeld en versterkte met een interne viervoudige versterker. Historische bronnen bevestigen ook het gebruik van dit type ontvanger door verzetsgroepen voor inductief afluisteren van telefoondraden. De kast toont duidelijke oorlogsproductie-markeringen, waaronder “Receiver Telesonic Y.A. 4913”, het serienummer en het jaartal 1943, aangebracht in witte stencilletters.
