Original WWII British Secret MI10 Intelligence Book ‘New Notes on German Chemical Warfare’ – War Office 1943

Original very rare British secret intelligence book from the Second World War entitled ‘New Notes on German Chemical Warfare’, issued by The War Office (M.I.10) in May 1943.
The front cover is prominently classified ‘SECRET’ and the document is individually numbered ‘Copy No. 48’.
The cover further states that the document was the property of His Britannic Majesty’s Government and was intended solely for the personal information of the assigned officer and other authorized officers.
Of particular interest is the handwritten allocation on the cover to the ‘Netherlands War Office’, giving this particular copy a clear Dutch connection.
This extensive British military intelligence publication compiled information available up to April 1943 concerning German preparations for chemical warfare.
It covers both defensive and offensive aspects of German chemical warfare and incorporates intelligence obtained from captured equipment, documents and other wartime sources.

Het zeldzame boek draagt op de voorzijde duidelijk de classificatie ‘SECRET’ en is genummerd als ‘Copy No. 48′.
Op de voorzijde staat tevens vermeld dat het document eigendom was van His Britannic Majesty’s Government en uitsluitend bestemd was voor persoonlijk gebruik door de toegewezen officier en andere bevoegde officieren.
Bijzonder is de handgeschreven toewijzing op de omslag aan ‘Netherlands War Office’, waarmee dit exemplaar een duidelijke Nederlandse verbinding heeft.
Het betreft een omvangrijk Brits militair inlichtingendocument waarin de tot april 1943 beschikbare informatie over de Duitse voorbereidingen voor chemische oorlogsvoering werd samengebracht.
