Original British Second World War Bren Assault Vest (Skeleton) dated 1944.
This type of combat vest was specifically designed for the Bren gunner and his assistant, allowing them to efficiently carry additional Bren magazines and equipment during combat operations.

The so-called “skeleton” design consists of a webbing harness construction with several fixed magazine pouches, distributing the weight evenly across the body while allowing the wearer quick access to ammunition.

This type of vest was widely used by British and Commonwealth troops during the later years of the war, including in Normandy and Northwest Europe.
The vest is made from sturdy canvas webbing and is dated 1944.
