Original WWII Allied military ID card for Polish captain 1944

This Allied military identification card is in good condition, complete with passport photo and belonged to a Polish captain who fought for the Allies.
The ID card dates back to 1944 and was used by Bronistaw Musiatowicz.
After the German and Soviet invasion of Poland in September 1939, much of the Polish army and government fled abroad.
Many joined the Allies to continue the fight against the Axis powers.
All over the world, Polish soldiers fought in various units – from North Africa to Western Europe.
One of the best-known Polish formations was the 1st Polish Armored Division under General Stanisław Maczek.
This division played a key role in the liberation of parts of France, Belgium and the Netherlands.
In the air, Polish pilots distinguished themselves during the Battle of Britain.
Especially the famous 303 Squadron of the RAF gained great fame.
Poles also fought on other fronts, such as in Italy.
One example is the tough battle for Monte Cassino in 1944.
Despite their great contribution, Poland was not recognized as a full-fledged victor after the war.
The country came under Soviet influence.
Nevertheless, the efforts of Polish soldiers are recognized worldwide as courageous and indispensable in the fight for the liberation of Europe.

Originele WWII Geallieerde identificatiekaart van Poolse kapitein uit 1944

Deze Geallieerde militaire identificatie kaart is in goede conditie, compleet met pasfoto en behoorde foto een Poolse kapitein welke voor de Geallieerden vocht.
De ID kaart dateert uit 1944 en werd gebruikt door Bronistaw Musiatowicz.
Na de Duitse en Sovjet-invasie van Polen in september 1939 vluchtte een groot deel van het Poolse leger en de regering naar het buitenland.
Velen sloten zich aan bij de Geallieerden om de strijd tegen de Asmogendheden voort te zetten.
Over de hele wereld vochten Poolse soldaten in diverse eenheden mee – van Noord-Afrika tot West-Europa.
Een van de bekendste Poolse formaties was de 1e Poolse Pantserdivisie onder generaal Stanisław Maczek.
Deze divisie speelde een sleutelrol bij de bevrijding van delen van Frankrijk, België en Nederland.
In de lucht onderscheidden Poolse piloten zich tijdens de Slag om Engeland.
Vooral het beroemde 303 Squadron van de RAF verwierf grote bekendheid.
Ook op andere fronten, zoals in Italië, vochten Polen mee.
Een voorbeeld hiervan is de zware strijd om Monte Cassino in 1944.
Ondanks hun grote bijdrage werd Polen na de oorlog niet erkend als volwaardige overwinnaar.
Het land kwam onder Sovjetinvloed te staan.
Toch wordt de inzet van Poolse soldaten wereldwijd erkend als moedig en onmisbaar in de strijd voor de bevrijding van Europa.
