Original Allied propaganda leaflet in the form of a Burmese newspaper from World War II.
This example was produced as part of the Allied psychological warfare campaign against Japan during the Burma Campaign.
The bottom is marked ‘SBN/5 Lxy-Nat-Thah, October 21, 1944’, precisely dating this example to October 21, 1944.
The publication is printed entirely in Burmese and contains various news reports concerning the war and the Allied campaign against Japan.
Several illustrated maps are printed throughout the newspaper, including a map of Europe showing the military situation and a map of Southeast Asia depicting Japan, the Philippines, Burma and surrounding territories.
The map of the Philippines features large arrows illustrating the Allied advance towards Japanese-occupied territory, corresponding with the American return to the Philippines in October 1944.
The front is designed as a Burmese newspaper and features a striking illustration at the top depicting an aircraft dropping propaganda leaflets.
Burmese news sheets of this type were used by the Allies to provide the local population with war news, undermine confidence in the Japanese occupation and emphasize the approaching Allied victory.

Origineel geallieerd propaganda-strooibiljet in de vorm van een Birmese krant uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog

Het exemplaar werd geproduceerd in het kader van de geallieerde psychologische oorlogsvoering tegen Japan tijdens de Burma Campaign.
Onderaan staat de aanduiding ‘SBN/5 Lxy-Nat-Thah, October 21, 1944’, waarmee het exemplaar exact op 21 oktober 1944 kan worden gedateerd.
De uitgave is volledig in het Birmees gedrukt en bevat verschillende nieuwsberichten over de oorlog en de geallieerde strijd tegen Japan.
Op de pagina’s bevinden zich verschillende geïllustreerde landkaarten, waaronder een kaart van Europa met de militaire situatie en een kaart van Zuidoost-Azië waarop Japan, de Filipijnen, Birma en omliggende gebieden zijn weergegeven.
