Original Soviet Cold War TKN-3 type Commander Day/Night Tank Observation Periscope

Original Cold War Soviet TKN-3 type day and night observation optic intended for use by the commander of a tank or other armored vehicle.
The device features binocular eyepieces and a large rubber eye and face guard for observation from inside the vehicle.
This type of combined commander observation optic provided both daytime and nighttime observation, with the night function using electro-optical technology.
The device retains its original Russian operating markings, including ‘ОТКР’ for open and ‘ЗАКР’ for closed.
A metal instruction plate is marked ‘ВНИМАНИЕ! КОНЧИЛ РАБОТУ ЗАКРОЙ ШТОРКУ’, instructing the operator to close the protective shutter after use.
The shutter was intended to protect the night vision optical system against unwanted exposure to light.
The olive-green metal housing retains its various controls, optical components and mounting construction.

Originele Koude Oorlog Sovjet TKN-3 type dag- en nachtobservatie optiek voor gebruik door een commandant van een tank of ander pantservoertuig

Het apparaat is uitgevoerd met twee oculairs en een grote rubberen oog- en gezichtsbeschermer voor observatie vanuit het voertuig.
Dit type gecombineerde commandantenoptiek maakte observatie overdag en ’s nachts mogelijk, waarbij de nachtfunctie gebruikmaakte van elektronisch-optische techniek.
Op het apparaat bevinden zich originele Russische bedieningsaanduidingen, waaronder ‘ОТКР’ voor openen en ‘ЗАКР’ voor sluiten.
Een metalen instructieplaatje draagt de Russische tekst ‘ВНИМАНИЕ! КОНЧИЛ РАБОТУ ЗАКРОЙ ШТОРКУ’, waarmee wordt aangegeven dat de afsluiter na gebruik gesloten moet worden.
Deze afsluiter diende ter bescherming van het optische nachtzichtgedeelte tegen ongewenste lichtinval.
De olijfgroene metalen behuizing beschikt nog over de verschillende bedieningselementen, optische delen en montageconstructie.
Een interessant stuk Sovjet militaire optiek uit de Koude Oorlog voor een verzameling rond Russische tanks, pantservoertuigen en nachtzichtapparatuur.
