Original pre-war Dutch Army photograph showing a group of cavalry trumpeters of the 2nd Hussars Regiment in Arnhem.
The photograph shows approximately fifteen soldiers in distinctive Hussar uniforms playing their cavalry trumpets together.
The soldiers wear elaborate uniforms with horizontal braiding, cords and distinctive plumed headgear associated with the ceremonial traditions of the Dutch cavalry.
A serviceman positioned at the front can be seen wearing different equipment and is clearly distinguished from the other trumpeters.
The photograph provides a detailed view of the ceremonial uniforms, military headgear and musical instruments used by Dutch Hussars.
The handwritten annotation on the reverse reads ’25 jarig bestaan jubileum 2de Regt. Huzaren’ and is accompanied by the year ‘1927’.
The reverse additionally bears an original oval stamp of the ‘Historisch Archief 2e Regts Rijdende Artillerie’ and a copyright stamp from Foto-Bureau ‘Gazendam’, Rijnstraat 9 in Arnhem.
The combination of the 2nd Hussars Regiment, the jubilee annotation, cavalry trumpeters and original archive and photographer’s stamps makes this a particularly well-documented Dutch military photograph from the interwar period.

Originele vooroorlogse Nederlandse legerfoto met een groep trompetters van het 2e Regiment Huzaren in Arnhem

De opname toont circa vijftien militairen in opvallende huzarenuniformen die gezamenlijk hun cavalerietrompetten bespelen.
De militairen dragen rijk uitgevoerde uniformen met horizontale tressen, koorden en hoofddeksels met pluimen, kenmerkend voor de ceremoniële tradities van de Nederlandse cavalerie.
Vooraan staat een militair die zich door zijn uitrusting en positie duidelijk van de overige trompetters onderscheidt.
De opname biedt een bijzonder gedetailleerd beeld van de ceremoniële uniformering, hoofddeksels en muziekinstrumenten van de Nederlandse huzaren.
Op de achterzijde staat de handgeschreven tekst ’25 jarig bestaan jubileum 2de Regt. Huzaren’ met daaronder het jaartal ‘1927’.
Daarnaast draagt de achterzijde een originele ovale stempel van het ‘Historisch Archief 2e Regts Rijdende Artillerie’ en een copyrightstempel van Foto-Bureau ‘Gazendam’, Rijnstraat 9 te Arnhem.
Door de combinatie van het 2e Regiment Huzaren, de jubileumvermelding, de cavalerietrompetters en de originele archief- en fotografenstempels is dit een bijzonder gedocumenteerde Nederlandse militaire foto uit het interbellum.
