Original May 1940 Dutch army grouping Maasbruggen Rotterdam

This grouping belonged to the Dutch soldier de Bruijn who fought in May 1940 at the Maasbruggen in Rotterdam while serving in the 2-III-Depot Genie Troepen.
This unit was stationed in Rotterdam at the time of the German invasion.
On May 10, 1940, the unit first occupied the Beursstation and then fought towards the Maasbruggen.
Battle reports have shown that they also fought together with the Dutch Marines against the German paratroopers.

Originele WWII Nederlands leger grouping Maasbruggen Rotterdam mei 1940

Deze grouping behoorde tot de Nederlandse soldaat de Bruijn welke vocht in mei 1940 aan de Maasbruggen in Rotterdam terwijl hij diende in het 2-III-Depot Genietroepen.
Deze eenheid lag in Rotterdam gelegerd ten tijde van de Duitse inval.
Op 10 mei 1940 bezette de eenheid eerst het Beursstation en vochten zich daarna richting de Maasbruggen.
Uit gevechtsverslagen is gebleken dat zij ook samen met de Nederlandse Mariniers tegen de Duitse parachutisten hebben gevochten.
Deze set bestaat uit zijn Oorlogszakboekje, Mobilisatiekruis in doosje met baton en oorkonde, twee documenten mbt tot de Dhr de Bruijn, een bidprentje van een vriend van de familie, kopie staat van dienst en kopie gevechtsverslagen van de eenheid.
