The central medallion carries the crowned monogram of Willem II on a green enamelled ground
The suspension loop above the cross is made of gilt metal and connects the cross to the ribbon
The accompanying ribbon shows the characteristic diagonal stripes of black and ochre-yellow
The Order of the Oak Crown was instituted in 1841 by Willem II, king of the Netherlands and grand duke of Luxembourg, as a decoration for merit to the state and the dynasty.
The order comprises several grades, including the Knight’s Cross, and was awarded to both civilians and military personnel.
Willem II reigned from 1840 to 1849 as king of the Netherlands and simultaneously as grand duke of Luxembourg, a personal union that existed between the two countries at the time.

Het kruis is uitgevoerd in wit geëmailleerd metaal met een gouden rand op de vier armen
In het centrale medaillon is op groene geëmailleerde ondergrond het gekroonde monogram van Willem II geplaatst
De ophangbeugel boven het kruis is in goudkleurig metaal uitgevoerd en verbindt het kruis met het lint
Het bijbehorende lint is uitgevoerd in de kenmerkende diagonale banen van zwart en okergeel
De Orde van de Eikenkroon werd in 1841 ingesteld door Willem II, koning der Nederlanden en groothertog van Luxemburg, als onderscheiding voor verdiensten aan de staat en de dynastie.
De orde kent verschillende graden, waaronder het ridderkruis, en werd zowel aan burgers als militairen toegekend.
Willem II regeerde van 1840 tot 1849 als koning der Nederlanden en tevens als groothertog van Luxemburg, een personele unie die destijds bestond tussen beide landen.
