Original German Dr. Seys-Inquart defending speech in file Nürnberg trails 1946

This is the original defense speech of Dr. Arthur Seys-Inquart and it was used in July 1946 during the Nürnberg trials.
It has the signature, date and a small message from his lawyer Gustav Steinbauer on the first page.
Dr. Arthur Seys-Inquart was born 22 July 1892 in Stannern in Austria.

He was an Austrian politician who served as Chancellor of Austria in 1938 for two days, before the annexation of Austria by Germany (the Anschluss).

During World War I, Seyss-Inquart fought for the Austro-Hungarian Army with distinction.
After the war he became a successful lawyer, and went on to join the governments of Chancellors Engelbert Dollfuss and Kurt Schuschnigg.
In 1938, Schuschnigg resigned in the face of a German invasion, and Seyss-Inquart was appointed his successor.
The newly installed Nazis proceeded to transfer power to Germany, and Austria subsequently became the German province of Ostmark, with Seyss-Inquart as its governor (Reichsstatthalter).

Following the fall of the Low Countries in World War II, Seyss-Inquart was appointed Reichskommissar of the occupied Netherlands.
He instituted a reign of terror, with Dutch civilians subjected to forced labour and the vast majority of Dutch Jews deported and murdered.

At the Nuremberg trials, Seyss-Inquart was found guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity, sentenced to death, and executed on 16 October 1946.

This file was recently found in an antique store in Germany and it is one of a kind.
We found out that a university in Amsterdam and a library in Germany has this defense speech in the form of a book which was made in 1946 as well.
This particular file was actually used at the Nürnberg trials and belonged to Dr. Arthur Seys-Inquart and his lawyer Gustav Steinbauer.

Originele WWII Duitse verdediging speech van Dr. Arthur Seys-Inquart Nürnberg tribunaal 1946

Dit is de originele verdediging speech van Dr. Arthur Seys-Inquart en zijn advocaat en werd gebruikt tijdens het Nurnberg tibunaal in juli 1946.
Op de eerste pagina staat ook de handtekening, datum en een klein bericht van zijn advocaat Gustav Steinbauer.
Dr. Arthur Seys-Inquart was geboren op 22 juli 1892 in Stannern in Oostenrijk.

Hij was een Oostenrijks jurist en politicus.
Hij behoorde aanvankelijk tot de ‘gematigde’ vleugel van de Oostenrijkse nazi’s, maar later ontpopte hij zich, als Rijkscommissaris van Nederland in het bezette Nederland, als een extremistische dictator.
Hij was verantwoordelijk onder andere voor de deportatie van de Nederlandse joden en executies van verzetstrijders.

Seyss-Inquart bevond zich onder de 22 belangrijke oorlogsmisdadigers die tijdens het Proces van Neurenberg werden berecht.
De aanklachten tegen hem waren; Misdaden tegen de vrede, oorlogsmisdrijven, misdaden tegen de mensheid.
Hij werd op 1 oktober 1946 schuldig bevonden aan oorlogsmisdrijven en misdaden tegen de mensheid, en ruim twee weken later ter dood gebracht.

Dit dossier werd onlangs gevonden in een antiekzaak in Duitsland en het is een ‘’one of a kind’’.
Uit onderzoek is gebleken dat een universiteit in Amsterdam en een bibliotheek in Duitsland dezelfde verdediging speech in boekvorm hebben wat in 1946 is uitgebracht.
Deze speech is daadwerkelijk gebruikt tijdens het Nürnberg tribunaal en behoorde tot Dr. Arthur Seys-Inquart en zijn advocaat Gustav Steinbauer en zit ook nog in de originele Nürnberg map.
