Original Dutch KNIL 1945-1949 Gold Bullion Cap Insignia – Netherlands East Indies

Original Dutch KNIL cap insignia dating from the 1945-1949 period.
The insignia is constructed on a black cloth backing and features the Dutch lion holding a sword and bundle of arrows in the centre.
The lion is surrounded by an elaborate laurel wreath embroidered in gold-coloured bullion wire.
The insignia is hand embroidered, with the reverse clearly showing the original construction and attachment threads.
This type of insignia was worn on headgear of the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army during the post-war period in the Netherlands East Indies.
The 1945-1949 period represents an important chapter in KNIL history during the conflict and political developments surrounding Indonesian independence.
The insignia remains in worn condition with visible traces of use and some wear to the embroidery.

Origineel Nederlands KNIL pet embleem uit de periode 1945-1949

Het embleem is uitgevoerd op een zwarte stoffen ondergrond en toont centraal de Nederlandse leeuw met zwaard en pijlenbundel.
Rondom de leeuw bevindt zich een rijk uitgevoerde lauwerkrans van goudkleurig metaaldraad.
Het embleem is met de hand geborduurd en de achterzijde toont duidelijk de oorspronkelijke constructie en bevestigingsdraden.
Dit type embleem werd gedragen op hoofddeksels van het Koninklijk Nederlandsch-Indisch Leger in de naoorlogse periode van Nederlands-Indië.
De periode 1945-1949 vormde een belangrijk hoofdstuk in de geschiedenis van het KNIL tijdens de strijd en politieke ontwikkelingen rond de Indonesische onafhankelijkheid.
