Original embroidered NATO patch from the 1950s, Cold War period.
The round patch displays the compass rose emblem of NATO, with the four points worked in light thread on a dark green background.
Above the emblem the text ‘NATO’ is embroidered, surrounded by a double circular border.
The reverse shows the embroidered construction of the emblem and the backing fabric.
This type of insignia was worn by servicemen attached to a NATO command or unit.
