This French TAP 47/53 camouflage jacket from the 1950s was worn by French paratroopers (Troupes Aéroportées) during the Indochina War and the Algerian War.
The jacket features the distinctive French “Lizard” camouflage pattern, which later became internationally recognized and served as the basis for several other camouflage designs.
It is made of durable cotton fabric and includes four large pockets with snap buttons, ventilation eyelets at the bottom, and adjustable waist straps at the back.
The zipper is marked “SIFER”, typical of original French military production from this period. Inside, the stamps and size markings remain clearly visible.
The TAP 47/53 was developed specifically for French paratroopers during conflicts such as the Indochina and Algerian wars.

Deze Franse TAP 47/53 camouflagejas uit de jaren 1950 werd gedragen door de Franse parachutisten (Troupes Aéroportées) tijdens de Indochina-oorlog en de Algerijnse Oorlog.
Het jasje is uitgevoerd in het karakteristieke Franse “Lizard” camouflagemotief, dat later ook internationaal bekend werd en de basis vormde voor diverse andere camouflagestijlen.
De jas is vervaardigd uit stevig katoenen doek en heeft vier grote zakken met drukknopen, ventilatieogen aan de onderzijde en verstelbare taillebanden aan de achterzijde.
De rits is gemerkt met “SIFER”, wat typerend is voor originele Franse militaire productie uit deze periode. Binnenin zijn de stempels en maatmarkeringen nog goed zichtbaar.
De TAP 47/53 werd ontwikkeld voor gebruik door Franse parachutisten tijdens conflicten zoals de Indochina-oorlog en de Algerijnse Oorlog.
