Original 1945-1949 Dutch KNIL captain blouse

Original Dutch KNIL officer’s blouse from the period 1945–1949, worn by a captain of the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army (KNIL) during the post-war years in the Dutch East Indies and the period of the Indonesian War of Independence.

The blouse is made of khaki fabric.

The design features a classic military style with a front button closure, two chest pockets with flaps and button closure, and shoulder straps. On the shoulder is a rank insignia with three metal stars, indicating the rank of captainwithin the KNIL. Inside the collar the name “Bruce Vonderheydt” is stamped.

On the inside there is a label reading “Furlough – 100% Virgin Wool Gabardine – Form Fitted – London Shrunk – Tailored by Jackson Raymond Co., Inc.”, indicating a well-made officer’s garment.

The blouse shows normal signs of use and light wear, consistent with its age and use in tropical conditions.

Originele Nederlandse KNIL officiersblouse uit de periode 1945–1949, gedragen door een kapitein van het Koninklijk Nederlands-Indisch Leger (KNIL) tijdens de naoorlogse jaren in Nederlands-Indië en de periode van de Indonesische onafhankelijkheidsstrijd.
De blouse is uitgevoerd in een khaki stof.
Het model heeft een klassiek militair ontwerp met een doorknoopsluiting aan de voorzijde, twee borstzakken met klep en knoopsluiting en schouderstukken.
Op de schouder bevindt zich een rangonderscheiding met drie metalen sterren, wat duidt op de rang van kapitein binnen het KNIL. In de kraag is de naam “Bruce Vonderheydt” gestempeld. Aan de binnenzijde bevindt zich een label met de tekst “Furlough – 100% Virgin Wool Gabardine – Form Fitted – London Shrunk – Tailored by Jackson Raymond Co., Inc.”, wat wijst op een kwalitatief vervaardigde officiersblouse.
