Original 1940 Dutch Militaire Willems-Orde commemorative citation

This official commemorative certificate of the Military Order of William ‘Militaire Willemsorde’ was issued to mark the 125th anniversary of the Netherlands’ highest decoration for bravery and is dated 30 April 1940.
Remarkably, this edition appeared just ten days before 10 May 1940, the day the German invasion took place in the Netherlands.

Deze officiële herdenkings- en oorkonde van de Militaire Willems-Orde werd uitgegeven ter gelegenheid van het 125-jarig bestaan van Nederlands hoogste dapperheidsonderscheiding en dateert van 30 april 1940.
Opmerkelijk is dat deze uitgave verscheen slechts tien dagen vóór 10 mei 1940, de dag waarop de Duitse inval plaatsvond Nederland.
