Original 1940 Dutch KNIL drivers license

Original Dutch East Indies driver’s license from 1940, issued during the period of the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army (KNIL) and the colonial administration in the Dutch East Indies.

This document falls under the Wegverkeersordonnantie (Road Traffic Ordinance) and concerns a B1 driver’s license, intended for operating buses and trucks.

The license was issued to a military serviceman, born in Doekoeran on October 1, 1918. The document was issued in Bandoeng on May 1, 1940, and was valid until May 1, 1945.
