Original 1938 German KdF-Wagen Volkswagen Sales Brochure DAF Kraft durch Freude

Original German KdF-Wagen sales brochure from 1938, issued for the introduction and promotion of the automobile that later developed into the Volkswagen Beetle.
The front bears the title ‘Der KdF Wagen’ and features a colourful illustration of the KdF-Wagen by the artist Demar.
Inside are several large colour illustrations showing the automobile, including its interior, bodywork, folding roof and a cutaway view illustrating the seating arrangement for driver and passengers.
The accompanying technical information covers the air-cooled four-cylinder engine, fuel consumption, maximum speed, braking distance, turning circle and hill-climbing performance.
The text presents the KdF-Wagen within the programme of the Deutsche Arbeitsfront and the NS-Gemeinschaft ‘Kraft durch Freude’.
The reverse features the cogwheel and swastika emblem of the Deutsche Arbeitsfront and states that information about the KdF-Wagen was available through local DAF and Kraft durch Freude offices.
The original price of the brochure is printed at the bottom as ‘Prospektpreis 20 Pfg.’.
The KdF-Wagen was extensively promoted in 1938 as an affordable automobile for the German population and became the direct predecessor of the post-war Volkswagen Beetle.

Originele Duitse KdF-Wagen verkoopbrochure uit 1938, uitgegeven voor de introductie en promotie van de latere Volkswagen Kever

De brochure draagt op de voorzijde de titel ‘Der KdF Wagen’ en toont de KdF-Wagen in een kleurrijke illustratie van kunstenaar Demar.
Binnenin bevinden zich meerdere grote kleurenillustraties van de auto, waaronder het interieur, de carrosserie, het vouwdak en een doorsnede met de indeling voor bestuurder en passagiers.
Daarnaast worden technische gegevens behandeld, waaronder de luchtgekoelde viercilindermotor, het brandstofverbruik, de topsnelheid, remweg, draaicirkel en prestaties op hellingen.
De begeleidende tekst presenteert de KdF-Wagen als onderdeel van het programma van de Deutsche Arbeitsfront en de NS-Gemeinschaft ‘Kraft durch Freude’.
Op de achterzijde bevindt zich het tandwiel-embleem met hakenkruis van de Deutsche Arbeitsfront en wordt vermeld dat informatie over de KdF-Wagen verkrijgbaar was bij de plaatselijke DAF- en Kraft durch Freude-kantoren.
