Original Dutch NSB propaganda leaflet issued by the Nationaal-Socialistische Beweging in Nederland under the title ‘Aan de Katholieken in Nederland’.
The distinctive red-orange leaflet identifies the Nationaal-Socialistische Beweging in Nederland, its general leader Ir. A.A. Mussert and the movement’s headquarters at Oude Gracht 35 in Utrecht.
Triangular NSB emblems are printed on both sides of the heading.
The leaflet was specifically aimed at Dutch Catholics and attempted to persuade them to join the NSB.
The extensive text discusses the relationship between National Socialism, fascism, the Roman Catholic Church, the Dutch state and different groups within society.
It attempts to counter criticism of fascism and National Socialism from Catholic circles and argues that Catholic religious life could continue within the political system advocated by the NSB.
The text refers to the Pope, Italian and German bishops, church authorities, the Reich Concordat and the position of the Catholic Church in Germany and Italy.
Other subjects include Marxism, class struggle, workers, farmers, the middle classes, employers and economic organization as viewed through NSB political ideology.
A separate section titled ‘Leidend beginsel’ explains the National Socialist view of government, the national community and the perceived common interest.
The leaflet concludes with the prominent appeal ‘KATHOLIEKEN sluit U aan bij de N.S.B.’ and ‘Helpt ons bij het vestigen van een Staatkundige eenheid’.
At the bottom are addresses where information and NSB programmes could be obtained, including Amsterdam, Enschede, The Hague, Groningen, Haarlem, ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Hilversum, IJmuiden, Roermond, Rotterdam and Utrecht.
The leaflet provides an interesting example of political recruitment propaganda specifically used by the NSB in an attempt to gain support among the Catholic population of the Netherlands.
The example is in used condition with original folds and a small tear along one of the fold lines, as clearly visible in the photos.

Originele Nederlandse NSB-propagandafolder van de Nationaal-Socialistische Beweging in Nederland met als titel ‘Aan de Katholieken in Nederland’

De opvallende rood-oranje folder vermeldt bovenaan de Nationaal-Socialistische Beweging in Nederland, algemeen leider Ir. A.A. Mussert en het toenmalige hoofdkwartier aan de Oude Gracht 35 in Utrecht.
Aan weerszijden van het briefhoofd zijn de driehoekige NSB-emblemen afgebeeld.
De folder was specifiek gericht aan Nederlandse katholieken en had als doel hen te overtuigen zich bij de NSB aan te sluiten.
In de tekst wordt uitgebreid ingegaan op de verhouding tussen het nationaalsocialisme, fascisme, de Rooms-Katholieke Kerk, de Nederlandse staat en verschillende maatschappelijke groepen.
Daarbij wordt geprobeerd kritiek vanuit katholieke kringen op fascisme en nationaalsocialisme te weerleggen en wordt betoogd dat de katholieke geloofsbeleving binnen de door de NSB voorgestane staatsvorm behouden zou kunnen blijven.
De tekst verwijst onder andere naar de paus, Italiaanse en Duitse bisschoppen, kerkelijke autoriteiten, het Rijksconcordaat en de positie van de katholieke kerk in Duitsland en Italië.
Ook worden onderwerpen als marxisme, klassenstrijd, arbeiders, boeren, middenstanders, werkgevers en de economische ordening vanuit het politieke gedachtegoed van de NSB besproken.
Een apart kader bevat het ‘Leidend beginsel’, waarin de nationaalsocialistische visie op staatsbestuur, volksgemeenschap en het algemeen belang wordt uiteengezet.
De folder eindigt met de opvallende oproep ‘KATHOLIEKEN sluit U aan bij de N.S.B.’ en ‘Helpt ons bij het vestigen van een Staatkundige eenheid’.
Onderaan worden adressen genoemd waar inlichtingen en NSB-programma’s verkrijgbaar waren, waaronder Amsterdam, Enschede, ‘s-Gravenhage, Groningen, Haarlem, ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Hilversum, IJmuiden, Roermond, Rotterdam en Utrecht.
De folder vormt een interessant voorbeeld van politieke wervingspropaganda waarmee de NSB specifiek probeerde steun te verkrijgen onder het katholieke deel van de Nederlandse bevolking.
Het exemplaar verkeert in gebruikte staat met oorspronkelijke vouwen en een kleine beschadiging op een vouwlijn, zoals duidelijk zichtbaar op de foto’s.
