Original 1930s Belgian Durso Joseph Stalin Composition Toy Figure

Original Belgian Durso toy figure from the 1930s depicting Joseph Stalin.
The figure is manufactured from composition material and was hand-painted.
Stalin is depicted wearing a white uniform jacket with black trousers and black boots, with one hand positioned in front of his body and the other behind his back.
The figure stands on its original rectangular green-painted base.
The underside bears the raised ‘DURSO’ manufacturer’s marking.
Durso was a Belgian manufacturer based in Liège that produced composition figures from the late 1930s onwards, including military, civilian and political subjects.
A closely corresponding Stalin figure wearing a white jacket is also documented as a Belgian Durso composition figure in a specialist historical toy collection.
The original paintwork shows traces of use and areas of paint loss, as visible in the photographs.

Origineel Belgisch Durso speelgoedfiguur uit de jaren 30, voorstellende Jozef Stalin

Het figuur is vervaardigd uit composiet en met de hand beschilderd.
Stalin is afgebeeld in een witte uniformjas met zwarte broek en zwarte laarzen, waarbij één hand voor het lichaam en de andere achter de rug is geplaatst.
Het figuur staat op de originele rechthoekige groen geschilderde sokkel.
Aan de onderzijde is de verhoogde fabrieksmarkering ‘DURSO’ aanwezig.
Durso was een Belgische fabrikant uit Luik die vanaf het einde van de jaren 30 composietfiguren vervaardigde en onder andere militairen, burgers en politieke figuren in zijn assortiment had.
Een vrijwel overeenkomstig Stalin-figuur met witte jas wordt in een gespecialiseerde historische speelgoedcollectie eveneens beschreven als een Belgisch Durso composietfiguur.
De originele beschildering vertoont gebruikssporen en plaatselijk verfverlies, zoals zichtbaar op de foto’s.
