Original 1891 Prussian military certificate – hand-signed by Kaiser Wilhelm II

Very fine and original Prussian military citation (official warrant) from 1891, issued in the name of Emperor Wilhelm II of Prussia and German Emperor. This officially sanctioned document concerns the appointment and promotion of Officer Gronau to the rank of Hauptmann (Captain) and Batterie-Chef, serving with the Feld-Artillerie-Regiment No. 33.

The citation is executed in elegant handwritten calligraphy on large-format paper and features an embossed Prussian imperial seal. At the bottom appears the original handwritten signature “Wilhelm”, as customary for personal imperial authorization by Kaiser Wilhelm II himself. The document is dated 18 October 1891, with a later formal confirmation issued from the Neues Palais in Potsdam on 17 November 1891, one of Wilhelm II’s principal residences.

This type of citation constituted the formal and legal basis for rank, appointment, and remuneration within the Prussian Army and was issued only once to the appointed officer. Surviving examples in this condition, with a clear imperial signature and intact embossed seal, are rare.

A historically significant and highly collectible document from the German Empire, of particular interest to collectors of militaria, German imperial history, and royal autographs.

Originele 1891 Pruisische militaire oorkonde – handgesigneerd door keizer Wilhelm II

Zeer fraaie en originele Pruisische militaire oorkonde uit 1891, uitgevaardigd in naam van keizer Wilhelm II van Pruisen en Duits keizer. Deze officieel bekrachtigde oorkonde betreft de benoeming en bevordering van officier Gronau tot Hauptmann (kapitein) en Batterie-Chef bij het Feld-Artillerie-Regiment Nr. 33. De oorkonde is opgesteld in elegante, handgeschreven kalligrafie op groot formaat papier en voorzien van een blindgestempeld Pruisisch rijkszegel. Onderaan bevindt zich de originele eigenhandige handtekening “Wilhelm”, zoals gebruikelijk bij persoonlijke bekrachtiging door de keizer zelf. Gedateerd 18 oktober 1891, met latere bevestiging vanuit het Neues Palais te Potsdam op 17 november 1891, één van de residenties van Wilhelm II. Dit type oorkonde vormde de formele en juridische basis voor rang, functie en bezoldiging binnen het Pruisische leger en werd slechts eenmaal verstrekt aan de betrokken officier.
Exemplaren in deze staat, mét duidelijke handtekening en intact zegel, zijn zeldzaam.
