Original 1830-1831 Dutch ‘Metalen Kruis Vrijwilligers’ medal

Original Dutch Volunteers Cross from the period 1830-1831, awarded to volunteers who fought for the Kingdom of the Netherlands during the Belgian uprising.
This historical decoration was created to recognize Dutch citizens who voluntarily joined the army during the Belgian Revolution.
The cross-shaped medal features a crowned letter W on the obverse, surrounded by a laurel wreath and the inscription “Vrijwillig”.
The reverse bears the inscription “Trouw aan Koning en Vaderland” together with the dates 1830 and 1831, referring to the period of the Belgian uprising.
This decoration was worn by volunteers who remained loyal to King William I during the military campaigns in the Southern Netherlands.
The original ribbon with green and cream stripes is still present and adds to the historical authenticity of the piece.

Origineel Nederlands metalen Vrijwilligerskruis uit de periode 1830-1831, uitgereikt aan vrijwilligers die deelnamen aan de strijd tegen de Belgische opstand.
Deze historische onderscheiding werd ingesteld ter erkenning van Nederlanders die zich vrijwillig aansloten bij het leger van het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden tijdens de Belgische Revolutie.
Het kruisvormige ereteken toont op de voorzijde een gekroonde letter W, omgeven door een lauwerkrans en de inscriptie “Vrijwillig”.
De achterzijde draagt de tekst “Trouw aan Koning en Vaderland” met de jaartallen 1830 en 1831, verwijzend naar de periode van de Belgische Opstand.
Dit type onderscheiding werd gedragen door vrijwilligers die loyaal bleven aan koning Willem I tijdens de militaire campagnes in de Zuidelijke Nederlanden.
Het originele lint met groene en crème kleurige strepen is nog aanwezig.
