Original WWII Flemish collaboration V.O.S. (Vlaamse Oudstrijders) member card

This rare Flemish V.O.S. (Vlaamse Oudstrijders) member card is in good condition and dates from 1941.
The Flemish Guard was founded in May 1941 by the Confederation of Flemish Oudstrijders, V.O.S.

Already during the beginning of the German occupation, the VOS leadership was spawned by the German military regime and by VNV leader Staf De Clercq.
They convinced the administrators to work for a prosperous and peace-loving Flanders that sought an equal place in Germanic Greater Germany. VOS resumed its activities, and the organization obtained the monopoly of veteran struggle in Flanders. Due to the effects of the short-lived gun violence in the May days of 1940, tens of thousands of new members joined.
On August 25, 1940, after a brief ban, De VOS also reappeared, but with content in line with the doctrines of the New Order.
In April 1941, VOS was officially transformed into an authoritarian organization, and in May 1941 the association established the Vlaamsche Wacht, which was to serve as a kind of gendarmerie.
In early 1942, VOS withdrew from recruitment, although the organization continued to work for the interests of the guards.
In 1945, Karel de Feyter was executed for his commitment to the Vlaamsche Wacht.

Originele WWII Vlaamse collaboratie V.O.S. (Vlaamse Oudstrijders) lidkaart 

Deze zeldzame Vlaamse V.O.S. (Vlaamse Oudstrijders) lidkaart is in goede conditie en dateert uit 1941.
De Vlaamse Wacht werd opgericht in mei 1941 door het Verbond van Vlaamse Oudstrijders, V.O.S.

Al tijdens het begin van de Duitse bezetting werd de VOS-leiding gepaaid door het Duitse militaire bewind en door VNV-leider Staf De Clercq.
Ze overtuigden de bestuurders om zich in te schakelen voor een welvarend en vredelievend Vlaanderen dat een gelijkberechtigde plek zocht in het Germaanse Groot-Duitsland. VOS hervatte zijn activiteiten en de organisatie verkreeg het monopolie van de oud-strijderswerking in Vlaanderen. Door de gevolgen van het kortstondige wapengeweld in de meidagen van 1940 sloten tienduizenden nieuwe leden zich aan.
Op 25 augustus 1940 verscheen na een kort verbod ook De VOS opnieuw, maar dan met een inhoud die in de lijn lag van de doctrines van de Nieuwe Orde.
In april 1941 werd VOS officieel tot een autoritaire organisatie omgevormd en in mei 1941 richtte de vereniging de Vlaamsche Wacht op, die als een soort rijkswacht moest dienen.
Begin 1942 trok VOS zich terug uit de werving, al bleef de organisatie zich inzetten voor de belangen van de wachters.
In 1945 werd Karel de Feyter voor zijn inzet voor de Vlaamse Wacht terechtgesteld.
