Original WWII German Kriegsmarine photo album ‘Kreuzer Karlsruhe’

The photo album is in good condition and comes from a Kriegsmarine member who served on the famous ship Kreuzer ‘Karlsruhe’ in the 1930s and during World War II
The album contains very unique and interesting photos of the so-called ‘Auslandreise’ that the cruiser made on the order of Adolf Hitler in 1934.
They sailed to the Canary Islands, Spain, West Africa, South Africa, Seychelles, the Dutch East Indies, Philippines, China (Hong Kong), Japan (Nagasaki and Kobe), Aleuten, the east coast of North America, Alaska, San Diego, California, Panama Canal and West Indies.
The photos show many interesting subjects such as the Kriegsmarine’s visit to the African tribes, the American marines in America, the visit of Adolf Hitler on board, the Neptune ritual after they passed the equator, Japanese cities and temples and many other topics and locations.
This photo album contains 327 original photos which are mainly postcard size and sharp, some are slightly smaller.
Nearly every page has a description of what can be seen on the photos or where the location is.
Also with this set comes the original booklet related to the Neptune ritual, this was done when the boat had passed the equator, dated 1935.
Deployed during the invasion of Norway, the Kreuzer Karlsruhe was torpedoed and sank on April 9, 1940.
In 2017 the ship was found just off the Norwegian coast and in 2020 the wreck was identified as the Kreuzer Karlsruhe.

Het fotoalbum is in goede conditie en is afkomstig van een Kriegsmarine lid welke diende op het bekende schip Kreuzer ‘Karlsruhe’ in de jaren 30 en tijdends de Tweede Wereldoorlog.
Het album bevat zeer uniek en interessant beeldmateriaal van de zogenaamde ‘Auslandreise’ die zij op het bevel van Adolf Hitler maakten in 1934.
Zij voeren onder andere naar de Kanarische Eilanden, Spanje, West-Afrika, Zuid-Afrika, Seychellen, Nederlandsch-Indië, Fillepijnen, China (Hong Kong), Japan (Nagasaki en Kobe), Aleuten, Oostkust van Noord-Amerika, Alaska, San Diego, Californië, Panama kanaal en West-Indië.
Op de foto’s zijn zeer veel interessante onderwerpen te zien zoals het bezoek van de Kriegsmarine aan de Afrikaanse stammen, de Amerikaanse mariniers in Amerika, het bezoek van Adolf Hitler aan boord, het Neptunes ritueel nadat ze de evenaar gepasseerd waren, Japanse steden en tempels en vele andere onderwerpen en locaties.
Dit foto album bevat 327 originele foto’s welke voornamelijk op postkaart grootte en scherp zijn, een deel is iets kleiner.
Bijna elke pagina is beschreven met wat er op de foto’s te zien is of op welke locatie deze genomen is.
Ook komt er met deze set het originele boekje met betrekking tot het Neptunes ritueel, dit werd gedaan wanneer de boot de evenaar was gepasseerd, daterend uit 1935.
De Kreuzer Karlsruhe werd tijdens de invasie van Noorwegen ingezet en werd getorpedeerd en zonk op 9 april 1940.
In 2017 werd het schip gevonden vlak voor de Noorse kust en in 2020 werd het wrak geindentificeerd als de Kreuzer Karlsruhe.
