Original WWII British Indian Army puggaree for a tropical sun helmet.
This headband is manufactured from light-coloured cotton fabric with several parallel rows of stitching running along its full length.
The puggaree was wound around the sun helmet and served both as sun protection and as decoration for the headgear.
The interior shows several stamps (1945) and markings, although these are not fully legible.
The ends of the band are finished with multiple rows of stitching.
An interesting collectible for the enthusiast of British Indian tropical equipment and Second World War militaria.

Originele WWII Britse Indiase leger puggaree voor een tropenhelm.
Dit hoofdband is vervaardigd uit lichtgekleurde katoenen stof met meerdere evenwijdige stiksels over de volledige lengte.
De puggaree werd om de tropenhelm gewikkeld en diende zowel als bescherming tegen de zon als ter versiering van het hoofddeksel.
Aan de binnenzijde zijn enkele stempels (1945) en markeringen zichtbaar, hoewel deze niet volledig leesbaar zijn.
De uiteinden van de band zijn afgewerkt met meerdere rijen stiksel.
