Original WW1 Belgian War Cross 1914-1918 Croix de Guerre

Original Belgian War Cross 1914-1918 (Croix de guerre 1914-1918), complete with ribbon and black bar.
The bronze cross shows on the front the rampant Belgian lion within a beaded border, with two crossed swords between the arms of the cross.
Above the cross is the pierced royal crown to which the ribbon is attached.
The reverse shows the monogram ‘A’ beneath a crown, referring to King Albert I.
The cross hangs from the red and green striped ribbon fitted with a black bar.
The piece is housed in its original blue case by D. Deprez of Bruxelles, with the gilt maker’s name on the inside of the lid and the monogram of King Albert II beneath a crown on the lid itself.
An interesting Belgian collectible from the period of the First World War for the militaria collector.

Origineel Belgisch Oorlogskruis 1914-1918 (Croix de guerre 1914-1918), compleet met lint

Het bronzen kruis toont op de voorzijde de klimmende Belgische leeuw binnen een parelrand, met twee gekruiste zwaarden tussen de armen van het kruis.
Boven het kruis bevindt zich de doorbroken koningskroon waaraan het lint is bevestigd.
De achterzijde toont het monogram ‘A’ onder een kroon, verwijzend naar koning Albert I.
Het kruis hangt aan het rood-groene gestreepte lint met daarop een zwarte staaf.
Het stuk wordt geleverd in het originele blauwe etui van D. Deprez te Bruxelles, met op de binnenzijde van het deksel de vergulde firmanaam en op het deksel zelf het monogram van koning Albert II onder een kroon.
Een interessant Belgisch verzamelobject uit de periode van de Eerste Wereldoorlog voor de militaria verzamelaar.
