The insignia is executed as an embroidered shield-shaped motif on a round background of blue-grey wool Luftwaffe uniform cloth.
The design shows a steering wheel with wings, worked in light-coloured thread on the shield.
The reverse shows the embroidered construction of the insignia through the fabric.
This type of insignia was worn on the uniform to indicate proficiency as a driver within the Luftwaffe.
