Original 1945-1949 Dutch KNIL ID Card – Legitimatiebewijs

Original Dutch KNIL identification card dating from the 1945-1949 period.
The document is issued in the name of ‘Take’, with the rank ‘Tor.Sld.Ekl.’ and general register number 300411.
In the upper left corner a passport photo of the holder is affixed, bearing a purple stamp impression of the military commander.
The document carries the number 92488 and the designation ‘K.N.I.L.’, with the holder’s signature at the bottom left.
At the bottom right the document is signed by L.C. Fleischer, lieutenant of infantry, as (Mil.) Commander of the Place.
At the top right the designation ‘De Unie 1905-6-’48’ is noted.
The Royal Netherlands East Indies Army (KNIL) was the army that defended Dutch colonial interests in the Dutch East Indies.
After the Second World War the KNIL remained active during the Indonesian War of Independence, which lasted from 1945 to 1949.
The army was disbanded in 1950 following the transfer of sovereignty to Indonesia.

Het document is uitgegeven op naam van ‘Take’, met rang ‘Tor.Sld.Ekl.’ en algemeen stamboeknummer 300411.
Linksboven is een pasfoto van de houder geplakt, voorzien van een paarse stempelafdruk van de militaire commandant.
Het document draagt het nummer 92488 en de vermelding ‘K.N.I.L.’, met de handtekening van de houder onderaan links.
Onderaan rechts is het document ondertekend door L.C. Fleischer, luitenant der infanterie, als (Mil.) Commandant van de Plaats.
Bovenaan rechts staat de aanduiding ‘De Unie 1905-6-’48’ vermeld.
Het Koninklijk Nederlandsch-Indisch Leger (KNIL) was het leger dat de Nederlandse koloniale belangen in Nederlands-Indië verdedigde.
Na de Tweede Wereldoorlog bleef het KNIL actief tijdens de Indonesische onafhankelijkheidsoorlog, die duurde van 1945 tot 1949.
Het leger werd in 1950 ontbonden na de soevereiniteitsoverdracht aan Indonesië.
