Original German photograph from the Second World War, taken in The Hague during the German occupation of the Netherlands.
The photograph shows a street scene featuring a prominent collection of German military direction signs pointing towards various Wehrmacht and naval offices and facilities.
Visible inscriptions include ‘Ortskommandantur’, ‘W. Verpfl. Amt’, ‘H.K.P. Instandsetzung’, ‘Nachschubführer’ and ‘Marinebefehlshaber’.
A German-language direction sign marked ‘Stadtmitte’ is also visible, indicating the direction towards the city centre.
In the background is a building marked ‘Pavillon’, while the tram tracks and overhead wiring provide a clear view of the urban surroundings of The Hague during the occupation.
The reverse is handwritten ‘Ryswyksche plein’ and ‘Den Haag’, identifying the location as Rijswijkseplein in The Hague.
The reverse also bears the photographer’s stamp ‘THIEME-FOTO DELFT-DEN HAAG’.
The photograph measures approximately 6 x 6 cm and remains in used condition.

Originele Duitse foto uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog, genomen in Den Haag tijdens de Duitse bezetting van Nederland

De opname toont een straatbeeld met Duitse militaire wegwijzers die verschillende Wehrmacht- en marineonderdelen en voorzieningen aangeven.
Op de borden zijn onder andere ‘Ortskommandantur’, ‘W. Verpfl. Amt’, ‘H.K.P. Instandsetzung’, ‘Nachschubführer’ en ‘Marinebefehlshaber’ te lezen.
Daarnaast is een Nederlandse wegwijzer met ‘Stadtmitte’ zichtbaar, waarmee de richting naar het stadscentrum werd aangegeven voor Duitse militairen.
Op de achtergrond staat een gebouw met de naam ‘Pavillon’, terwijl de tramrails en bovenleidingen een duidelijk beeld geven van de stedelijke omgeving van Den Haag tijdens de bezettingsperiode.
Op de achterzijde staat handgeschreven ‘Ryswyksche plein’ en ‘Den Haag’, waarmee de locatie als het Rijswijkseplein in Den Haag wordt aangeduid.
Daarnaast bevindt zich op de achterzijde de stempel ‘THIEME-FOTO DELFT-DEN HAAG’.
De foto meet circa 6 x 6 cm en bevindt zich in gebruikte staat.
