Original WW1 German Rybniker Zeitung Army War Bulletin Poster No. 332 – 16 February 1915

Original German Army poster from the First World War, issued as a war bulletin by the ‘Rybniker Zeitung’ on 16 February 1915.
The poster is numbered 332 and features the Iron Cross with crown, ‘W’ and the date 1914 at the top.
The centre contains the official German Army communiqué from the ‘Großes Hauptquartier’, reporting developments from both the Western and Eastern theatres of war.
Under ‘Westlicher Kriegsschauplatz’, the bulletin reports, among other events, that enemy attacks against British trenches captured by German troops near St. Eloi had been repulsed.
The ‘Östlicher Kriegsschauplatz’ section reports on fighting around the East Prussian frontier and military operations in Poland, including Bielsk and Płock.
At the bottom is an additional statement concerning reports in the foreign press about alleged German losses during the fighting near Bolimów, concluding with ‘Oberste Heeresleitung’.
The distinctive red and black border together with the large ‘Rybniker Zeitung’ heading was intended to make the military news clearly visible to the public.
This is an interesting original piece of German wartime publishing and contemporary reporting from the first year of the First World War.
The poster measures approximately 38 x 28 cm and shows traces of use and damage along the edges, as visible in the photographs.

Originele Duitse legerposter uit de Eerste Wereldoorlog, uitgegeven als oorlogsbulletin van de ‘Rybniker Zeitung’ op 16 februari 1915

De poster draagt nummer 332 en toont bovenaan het IJzeren Kruis met kroon, ‘W’ en het jaartal 1914.
Centraal staat het officiële Duitse legerbericht van het ‘Großes Hauptquartier’ met nieuws van zowel het westelijke als het oostelijke oorlogstoneel.
Onder ‘Westlicher Kriegsschauplatz’ wordt onder meer melding gemaakt van afgeslagen vijandelijke aanvallen op de door Duitse troepen bij St. Eloi ingenomen Britse loopgraven.
Het gedeelte ‘Östlicher Kriegsschauplatz’ behandelt de gevechten aan het Oost-Pruisische front en operaties in Polen, waaronder Bielsk en Płock.
Onderaan staat een aanvullende mededeling over berichten in de buitenlandse pers betreffende vermeende Duitse verliezen tijdens de gevechten bij Bolimów, afgesloten met ‘Oberste Heeresleitung’.
De opvallende rood-zwarte omlijsting en de grote titel ‘Rybniker Zeitung’ maakten het militaire nieuws duidelijk zichtbaar voor het publiek.
Het betreft een interessant origineel stuk Duitse oorlogspubliciteit en contemporaine berichtgeving uit het eerste oorlogsjaar.
De poster meet circa 38 x 28 cm en vertoont gebruikssporen en beschadigingen langs de randen, zoals zichtbaar op de foto’s.
