Original 1938 German NSDAP Photo Book ‘Hitler befreit Sudetenland’ by Heinrich Hoffmann

Original German NSDAP photo book ‘Hitler befreit Sudetenland’ from 1938, compiled and published by Heinrich Hoffmann, Adolf Hitler’s official photographer and ‘Reichsbildberichterstatter der NSDAP’.
The book was published by Zeitgeschichte-Verlag Wilhelm Andermann in Berlin and covers the events surrounding Nazi Germany’s annexation of the Sudetenland in 1938.
The foreword was written by Konrad Henlein, leader of the Sudeten German Party and an important figure in the political developments surrounding the Sudetenland.
The book contains numerous historical black-and-white photographs featuring Adolf Hitler, Hermann Göring, Konrad Henlein, Neville Chamberlain, German military personnel and NSDAP officials.
The photographs include the negotiations at Godesberg, political meetings and receptions, the entry of German troops and visits to Czechoslovak fortifications and bunkers.
Further photographs document large public gatherings and Hitler’s reception in various locations throughout the Sudetenland.
According to the imprint, the photographs were supplied by Heinrich Hoffmann and several press agencies, while the book was printed in 1938 by F. Bruckmann KG in Munich.
The pictured example is identified in the printing information as belonging to the ’51. bis 65. Tausend’ printing.
The original dust jacket is still present and features Hitler in an open vehicle together with the title ‘Hitler befreit Sudetenland’.
The dust jacket shows wear and damage along the edges, as visible in the photographs.

Het boek werd uitgegeven door Zeitgeschichte-Verlag Wilhelm Andermann te Berlijn en behandelt de gebeurtenissen rond de annexatie van het Sudetenland door nazi-Duitsland in 1938.
Het voorwoord werd geschreven door Konrad Henlein, leider van de Sudetendeutsche Partei en een belangrijke figuur bij de politieke ontwikkelingen in het Sudetenland.
Het boek bevat een groot aantal historische zwart-witfoto’s van onder andere Adolf Hitler, Hermann Göring, Konrad Henlein, Neville Chamberlain, Duitse militairen en NSDAP-functionarissen.

Volgens het colofon zijn de foto’s afkomstig van Heinrich Hoffmann en verschillende persfotobureaus en werd het boek in 1938 gedrukt door F. Bruckmann KG in München.
Het afgebeelde exemplaar behoort volgens de drukvermelding tot de oplage ’51. bis 65. Tausend’.
De originele stofomslag is nog aanwezig en toont op de voorzijde Hitler in een open voertuig met de titel ‘Hitler befreit Sudetenland’.
