Original circa 1951–1952 West German police instruction manual for the Beretta M38/44 9mm submachine gun.
The manual is titled ‘Anleitung über die Maschinenpistole Beretta 9 mm’ and dates from the early period of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The front cover states ‘Herausgegeben vom Bayer. Beschaffungsamt für Polizeiausrüstung München’, identifying it as an issue of the Bavarian procurement office for police equipment in Munich.
The manual was produced for the use of the Beretta M38/44 by the post-war Bavarian police.
The Beretta M38/44 was a simplified version of the well-known Beretta Model 38 series and was produced during the Second World War.
After the war, examples of this type remained in service and the Beretta M38/44 was among the weapons used by the West German police.
The contents cover the description of the weapon, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, technical specifications and individual components.
Several technical illustrations show the Beretta M38/44 with its various components identified in German.
Both the 20-round and 40-round magazines are also illustrated and described.

De handleiding draagt de titel ‘Anleitung über die Maschinenpistole Beretta 9 mm’ en dateert uit de vroege periode van de Bondsrepubliek Duitsland.
Op de voorzijde staat vermeld ‘Herausgegeben vom Bayer. Beschaffungsamt für Polizeiausrüstung München’, waarmee de uitgave afkomstig is van het Beierse bureau voor politie-uitrusting in München.
De handleiding werd opgesteld voor het gebruik van de Beretta M38/44 door de naoorlogse Beierse politie.
De Beretta M38/44 was een vereenvoudigde uitvoering binnen de bekende Beretta Model 38-serie en werd tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog geproduceerd.
Na de oorlog bleven exemplaren van dit type in gebruik en werd de Beretta M38/44 onder andere door de West-Duitse politie ingezet.
De inhoud behandelt onder meer de beschrijving van het wapen, de bediening, het onderhoud, het verhelpen van storingen, technische gegevens en de afzonderlijke onderdelen.
