Original WWII Dutch Air Raid Protection Service Documents & ID Card Oegstgeest 1940 – Prof. H.P. Blok

Original WWII Dutch document set from the Air Raid Protection Service of the municipality of Oegstgeest, dating from May 1940.
The set was issued to Prof. Dr. H.P. Blok, residing at W. de Zwijgerlaan 18 in Oegstgeest.
The document is dated 17 May 1940 and states that Blok was appointed under Article 12 of the Dutch law concerning the protection of the population against air raids to serve as a watch leader during air raid alarms.
Upon hearing the air raid alarm signal, he was required to immediately report to the Central Post and follow the instructions and orders issued by the head of the Air Raid Protection Service.
The document bears an official municipal stamp of Oegstgeest and several signatures, including that of Prof. Dr. H.P. Blok.
Also included is his original Air Raid Protection Service identity card, dated 16 May 1940.
The card records his function as watch leader and authorized him to enter the Central Post and auxiliary posts of the Air Raid Protection Service in Oegstgeest.
Both pieces are marked ‘Duplicaat’ and together form an interesting document set dating from the first days of the German occupation of the Netherlands.

Originele WWII Nederlandse documentenset van de Luchtbeschermingsdienst van de gemeente Oegstgeest uit mei 1940

De set staat op naam van Prof. Dr. H.P. Blok, woonachtig aan de W. de Zwijgerlaan 18 te Oegstgeest.
Het document is gedateerd 17 mei 1940 en vermeldt dat Blok krachtens artikel 12 van de Wet tot bescherming van de bevolking tegen luchtaanvallen werd aangewezen om bij luchtalarm dienst te doen als wachtleider.
Hij diende zich bij het horen van het luchtalarmsignaal onmiddellijk naar de Centrale Post te begeven en daar de aanwijzingen en bevelen van het hoofd van de Luchtbeschermingsdienst op te volgen.
Het document draagt een gemeentestempel van Oegstgeest en is voorzien van verschillende handtekeningen, waaronder die van Prof. Dr. H.P. Blok.
Bij het document bevindt zich tevens zijn originele identiteitskaart van de Luchtbeschermingsdienst, gedateerd 16 mei 1940.
Op deze kaart staat zijn functie als wachtleider vermeld en wordt hij gemachtigd tot toegang tot de Centrale Post en de Hulpposten van de Luchtbeschermingsdienst te Oegstgeest.
Beide stukken zijn als ‘Duplicaat’ gemarkeerd en vormen samen een interessante documentenset uit de eerste dagen van de Duitse bezetting van Nederland.
