Original 1939 Dutch Army Cavalry Photo – Birth of Princess Irene – Kavallerie-Kazerne

Original pre-war Dutch Army photograph from 1939, taken at the ‘Kavallerie-Kazerne’ during festivities connected with the birth of Princess Irene of the Netherlands.
Princess Irene was born on 5 August 1939 as the second daughter of Princess Juliana and Prince Bernhard.
The photograph shows an unusual group of mounted riders in historical costumes leaving the gate of the ‘Kavallerie-Kazerne’.
Dutch soldiers in uniform can be seen in front of and beside the riders, including servicemen wearing pre-war Dutch military helmets.
The mounted riders wear various historical costumes with large collars, hats and other ceremonial garments, creating a remarkable image of the festivities.
The ‘Kavallerie-Kazerne’ sign is clearly visible above the entrance, directly documenting the military location where the photograph was taken.

Originele vooroorlogse Nederlandse legerfoto uit 1939, gemaakt bij de Kavallerie-Kazerne tijdens festiviteiten rond de geboorte van Prinses Irene

Prinses Irene werd op 5 augustus 1939 geboren als tweede dochter van Prinses Juliana en Prins Bernhard.
De foto toont een bijzondere groep ruiters in historische kostuums die te paard de poort van de ‘Kavallerie-Kazerne’ verlaten.
Voor en naast de ruiters zijn Nederlandse militairen in uniform zichtbaar, waaronder militairen met de vooroorlogse Nederlandse helm.
De ruiters dragen verschillende historische kostuums met grote kragen, hoeden en andere ceremoniële kledingstukken en vormen samen met de paarden een opvallend beeld van deze feestelijke gebeurtenis.
Boven de toegang tot het gebouw is duidelijk het bord ‘Kavallerie-Kazerne’ zichtbaar, waarmee de militaire locatie rechtstreeks op de foto is gedocumenteerd.
