Original WWII German-Estonian Soldiers’ Dictionary Soldaten-Wörterbuch by Feldw. Taada

Original WWII German-Estonian and Estonian-German military dictionary titled ‘Soldaten-Wörterbuch’, compiled by Feldw. Taada.
The booklet contains approximately 2,000 words intended for military field use and everyday life and was designed to assist communication between German-speaking and Estonian-speaking soldiers.
In addition to common words and expressions, the dictionary contains numerous military terms including ranks, commands, equipment and other terminology connected with military service.
The cover carries both the German title ‘Deutsch-Estnisches Estnisch-Deutsches Soldaten-Wörterbuch’ and the Estonian title ‘Sõdurisõnastik’.
This type of German-Estonian military dictionary was also used during the war by Estonian volunteers, including men serving with the 20. Waffen-Grenadier-Division der SS (estnische Nr. 1).
Its compact format allowed the dictionary to be easily carried during military service and in the field.

Het boekje bevat circa 2000 woorden voor militair veldgebruik en het dagelijkse leven en is speciaal opgezet om de communicatie tussen Duitstalige en Estischtalige militairen te vergemakkelijken.
Naast algemene woorden en uitdrukkingen bevat het woordenboek veel militaire termen, waaronder rangen, commando’s, uitrusting en andere begrippen uit het soldatenleven.
Op de omslag staan zowel de Duitse titel ‘Deutsch-Estnisches Estnisch-Deutsches Soldaten-Wörterbuch’ als de Estische titel ‘Sõdurisõnastik’.
Dit soort Duits-Estnische militaire woordenboekjes werd tijdens de oorlog ook gebruikt door Estische vrijwilligers, waaronder manschappen die dienden binnen de 20. Waffen-Grenadier-Division der SS (estnische Nr. 1).
Door het compacte formaat kon het woordenboek gemakkelijk tijdens de militaire dienst en in het veld worden meegenomen.
