Original US Navy officer visor cap dating from approximately 1941-1963.
The dark blue cap features a black band and black patent-style visor.
The front is fitted with the metal US Navy officer cap device featuring a silver-colored eagle and shield above gold-colored crossed anchors.
The direction of the eagle corresponds with the design prescribed by the US Navy from 26 April 1941 onwards.
The eagle, shield and crossed anchors formed the official cap device worn by commissioned officers of the US Navy.
The cap retains its gold-colored chin strap with a metal US Navy button on either side.
The black visor is without embroidered oak leaves, as worn by junior officers.
The interior retains its leather sweatband and original I. Goldberg & Co., Military Uniforms, 429 Market St., Philadelphia, Pennsylvania label.
The cap shows traces of use to the visor, chin strap and metal fittings, as visible in the photographs.

De donkerblauwe pet is uitgevoerd met een zwarte band en een zwarte gelakte klep.
Centraal op de voorzijde bevindt zich het metalen US Navy officiersinsigne met een zilverkleurige adelaar en schild boven goudkleurige gekruiste ankers.
De richting van de adelaar komt overeen met het model dat vanaf 26 april 1941 door de US Navy werd voorgeschreven.
De combinatie van de adelaar, het schild en de gekruiste ankers vormde het officiële petinsigne voor commissioned officers van de US Navy.
De pet heeft een goudkleurige kinband met aan weerszijden een metalen US Navy-knoop.
De zwarte klep is zonder geborduurde eikenbladeren uitgevoerd, zoals gebruikelijk bij junior officers.
Aan de binnenzijde bevindt zich een leren zweetband en het originele label van I. Goldberg & Co., Military Uniforms, 429 Market St., Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
