Original WWII US China Burma India Theater CBI patch in clearly worn condition.
The insignia consists of a dark blue cloth upper section with hand-embroidered sun and star, combined with a red and white striped shield-shaped section.
The sun represents Nationalist China while the star represents the United States, symbolising their cooperation within the China-Burma-India Theater.
CBI was used during the Second World War as a designation for American forces operating in China, Burma and India.
The construction and embroidery indicate a locally produced theater-made example, typical of insignia manufactured by local tailors and embroiderers in Asia.
The reverse reveals the coarse cloth construction and clear evidence of prolonged wear.

Het embleem bestaat uit een donkerblauwe stoffen bovenzijde met handgeborduurde zon en ster, gecombineerd met een rood-wit gestreept schildvormig gedeelte.
De zon verwijst naar Nationalistisch China en de ster naar de Verenigde Staten, waarmee de samenwerking binnen het China-Burma-India strijdtoneel werd weergegeven.
De CBI werd tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog gebruikt als aanduiding voor Amerikaanse strijdkrachten die actief waren in China, Birma en India.
De uitvoering en constructie wijzen op een lokaal vervaardigd theater-made exemplaar, zoals veel insignes in Azië door lokale kleermakers en borduurders werden gemaakt.
