Original WWII German Dutch Propaganda Poster Victory at Tobruk Afrika Korps 1942

Original German Dutch-language propaganda poster from the Second World War titled ‘De overwinning van Tobroek’, meaning ‘The Victory at Tobruk’.
The poster was issued in July 1942 following the capture of Tobruk in Libya by German and Italian forces during the North African Campaign.
Tobruk was a strategically important Allied port and stronghold on the Mediterranean coast and was captured on 21 June 1942 by Axis forces under the command of Erwin Rommel.
The poster features several colourful illustrated scenes of the battle, including advancing German infantry, German and Italian tanks, Luftwaffe aircraft and the surrender of British soldiers.
At the centre is a map of North Africa showing Libya, Egypt, Benghazi, Tobruk and Bir Hacheim under the heading ‘Rommel’s meesterlijke strategie’.
The accompanying texts describe the fighting at Bir Hacheim, the breakthrough of the British defensive positions and the eventual capture of Tobruk.
A separate section titled ‘Overwinning van den geest zoowel als van de wapens’ presents the German victory as part of the wartime propaganda surrounding the North African Campaign.
The combination of the Afrika Korps, Erwin Rommel, Tobruk, German armour and Luftwaffe aircraft makes this a striking example of German occupation propaganda produced for the Dutch population.
The lower right corner bears the publication marking ‘WPr/IV – NL – Nr. 107 – VII/1942’, dating this Dutch-language edition to July 1942.

Originele Duitse Nederlandstalige propagandaposter uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog met als titel ‘De overwinning van Tobroek’

De poster werd in juli 1942 uitgegeven naar aanleiding van de verovering van Tobroek in Libië door de Duits-Italiaanse strijdkrachten tijdens de Noord-Afrikaanse veldtocht.
Tobroek was een strategisch belangrijke havenstad en geallieerd steunpunt aan de Middellandse Zee en werd op 21 juni 1942 ingenomen door de troepen onder bevel van Erwin Rommel.
De poster toont verschillende kleurrijke geïllustreerde scènes van de strijd, waaronder oprukkende Duitse infanterie, Duitse en Italiaanse tanks, Luftwaffe-vliegtuigen en de overgave van Britse militairen.
Centraal bevindt zich een kaart van Noord-Afrika met Libië, Egypte, Bengasi, Tobroek en Bir Hacheim, voorzien van de titel ‘Rommel’s meesterlijke strategie’.
