Original Dutch NSB election newspaper ‘De vrije Middenstander’, dated May 20, 1937.
This rare newspaper was published as an election organ of the National Socialist Movement in the Netherlands shortly before the Dutch general election of May 26, 1937.
The front page names Anton Mussert as general leader and lists the editorial address at Maliebaan 35 in Utrecht.
Its main article discusses the position of the Dutch middle class under the existing and proposed National Socialist political system.
Other articles concern shopkeepers, butchers, bakers, cafés, restaurants and Dutch political parties.
An inside page features the political cartoon ‘De Vrije Pers’.
Throughout the publication readers are urged to vote for ‘Mussert, List 15’, the NSB candidate list in the 1937 election.

De krant werd uitgegeven als verkiezingsorgaan van de Nationaal-Socialistische Beweging in Nederland in aanloop naar de Tweede Kamerverkiezingen van 26 mei 1937.
Op de voorzijde staat Anton Mussert als algemeen leider vermeld, met het redactieadres Maliebaan 35 in Utrecht.
Centraal staat het artikel ‘De positie van den Middenstander in het tegenwoordige en in het Nationaal-Socialistische Regeersysteem’.
