Original book titled ‘Feestbrood in Midwintertijd’, written by D. J. van der Ven and published by Bosch & Keuning in Baarn.
This richly illustrated publication explores the traditions, folklore and history of midwinter bread and festive baking in the Netherlands and Scandinavia.
During the Second World War this copy was used by the collaboration organisation Nederlandsche Arbeidsdienst (N.A.D.), confirmed by multiple ownership and library stamps.
After the war the book remained in use within the Royal Netherlands Armed Forces, also confirmed by the surviving military library stamps.
This makes the book an interesting historical document showing its continued use by two very different Dutch organisations.
The publication contains numerous black and white photographs and illustrations depicting traditional baking methods, festive breads, folk customs and winter scenes.
The original binding remains intact and the book is in good used condition with normal signs of use.
A desirable collectible for collectors of Nederlandsche Arbeidsdienst, Dutch military history, WWII documents, folklore and military library material.

Dit fraai geïllustreerde werk behandelt de tradities, folklore en geschiedenis van midwinter- en feestbrood in Nederland en Scandinavië.
Dit exemplaar is tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog gebruikt door de collaboratieorganisatie Nederlandsche Arbeidsdienst (N.A.D.), wat wordt bevestigd door meerdere eigendoms- en bibliotheekstempels.
Na de oorlog bleef het boek in gebruik binnen de Koninklijke Nederlandsche Strijdkrachten, eveneens zichtbaar aan de aanwezige bibliotheekstempels.
Hierdoor vormt dit exemplaar een bijzonder historisch document dat de overgang van gebruik door twee totaal verschillende Nederlandse organisaties laat zien.
Het boek bevat talrijke zwart-wit foto’s en illustraties van traditionele bakmethoden, feestbroden, volksgebruiken en winterse taferelen.
De originele band is behouden en verkeert in nette gebruikte staat met normale gebruikssporen passend bij de leeftijd.
