Original WWII German document signed by Edward Voûte NSB mayor of Amsterdam

Original German document issued in Amsterdam in November 1944 during the German occupation of the Netherlands in the Second World War.
The document is an official ‘Amtliche Bescheinigung’ issued to R. Jurriaans, born on 5 August 1909, who served as staff chief at the Amsterdam Rationing Office.
It states that the holder was indispensable to the functioning of the municipal administration due to his position within the city’s public services.
As a result, he was exempt from reassignment to other duties and military as well as civil authorities were requested to assist him in carrying out his work.
The document is dated Amsterdam, November 1944 and bears the signature of Edward Voûte, then mayor of Amsterdam.
Edward Voûte was a prominent administrator during the German occupation, a member of the Dutch National Socialist Movement (NSB) and also a member of the Germaansche SS.
During the war he held several positions, including mayor of Amsterdam, administrative commissioner within various governmental bodies and representative of the National Socialist administration in the Dutch capital.
The document also contains a confirmation from the Wehrmacht Command in Amsterdam and a municipal distribution stamp marked ‘D.K. 174’.
Such documents were issued to exempt personnel in essential positions from other compulsory duties in order to maintain the operation of municipal services and occupation administration.

Origineel WWII Duits document gesigneerd door Edward Voûte – NSB burgemeester van Amsterdam

Origineel Duits document uit november 1944, uitgegeven in Amsterdam tijdens de Duitse bezetting van Nederland in de Tweede Wereldoorlog.
Het betreft een officiële ‘Amtliche Bescheinigung’ op naam van R. Jurriaans, geboren op 5 augustus 1909, werkzaam als stafchef bij het Amsterdamse Rantsoeneringsamt.
In het document wordt verklaard dat de houder vanwege zijn functie binnen de gemeentelijke diensten onmisbaar was voor het functioneren van het stadsapparaat.
Hierdoor mocht hij niet voor andere werkzaamheden worden ingezet en werden militaire en civiele instanties verzocht hem bij de uitvoering van zijn taken te ondersteunen.
Het document is gedateerd Amsterdam, november 1944 en draagt de handtekening van Edward Voûte, destijds burgemeester van Amsterdam.
Edward Voûte was een prominente bestuurder tijdens de Duitse bezetting en was aangesloten bij de NSB en tevens lid van de Germaansche SS.
Tijdens de oorlog bekleedde hij verschillende functies, waaronder burgemeester van Amsterdam, commissaris binnen diverse bestuurlijke organisaties en vertegenwoordiger van het nationaalsocialistische bestuur in de hoofdstad.
Het document bevat daarnaast een bevestiging van de Wehrmachtkommandantur Amsterdam en een distributiestempel van de Gemeente Amsterdam met vermelding ‘D.K. 174’.
Dergelijke documenten werden gebruikt om personeel in vitale functies vrij te stellen van andere verplichte werkzaamheden ten behoeve van het functioneren van de bezettingsadministratie en gemeentelijke diensten.
