Original early DDR brochure titled ‘Medaillen und Abzeichen’ issued in 1951 by the Deutsche Demokratische Republik.
This richly illustrated publication displays official decorations, medals, badges and insignia from the early East German state.
The booklet is multilingual in German, Russian, English and French and is dated July 1st 1951.
Inside are numerous DDR decorations and organisational emblems including state medals, labour awards and political insignia.
Illustrated awards include the Nationalpreis, Held der Arbeit, Verdienter Aktivist, Meisterhauer and Verdienter Eisenbahner.
The brochure also features emblems from organisations such as the FDJ (Free German Youth), FDGB, SED and the Volkspolizei.
Included are symbols relating to socialist trade unions, youth organisations and political institutions of the German Democratic Republic.
