Original copy of the military monthly magazine “De Militaire Spectator” from August 1949 published as the official publication of the Dutch Ministry of War and the Royal Netherlands Indies Army (KNIL).
This historical magazine contains military articles, analyses and background information from the period of Dutch presence in the Dutch East Indies shortly after the Second World War.
The publication discusses military organisation, artillery, military police, international defence developments and memorial articles dedicated to Dutch officers and generals.
The magazine also includes original late 1940s advertisements from Dutch companies and military suppliers.

Origineel exemplaar van het militaire maandblad “De Militaire Spectator” uit augustus 1949 uitgegeven als officieel orgaan van het Ministerie van Oorlog en het Koninklijk Nederlands-Indonesisch Leger (KNIL).
Dit historische tijdschrift bevat militaire artikelen, analyses en achtergrondinformatie uit de periode van de Nederlandse aanwezigheid in Nederlands-Indië vlak na de Tweede Wereldoorlog.
De uitgave behandelt onder meer militaire organisatie, artillerie, militaire politie, internationale defensieontwikkelingen en herdenkingsartikelen van Nederlandse officieren en generaals.
Daarnaast bevat het blad originele advertenties uit de late jaren 40 afkomstig van Nederlandse bedrijven en militaire leveranciers.
