Original German Luftschutz gas mask model VM40 dating from the World War II period.
The gas mask comes complete with its original cardboard storage box and the manual titled “Die Deutsche Volksgasmaske”.
Also included is the original filter element.
The manual was issued by the Reich Air Ministry and contains instructions for the use of the civilian air protection mask.
This type of gas mask was used for civilian air raid protection within Germany during air attacks and emergency situations in WWII.
The box carries several production markings and stamps consistent with German Luftschutz equipment.

Origineel Duits Luftschutz gasmasker model VM40 afkomstig uit de periode van de Tweede Wereldoorlog.
Het gasmasker wordt geleverd in de originele kartonnen bewaardoos met handleiding “Die Deutsche Volksgasmaske”.
Binnenin bevindt zich tevens het originele filterelement.
De handleiding is uitgegeven door het Reichsluftfahrtministerium en bevat instructies voor gebruik van het burgerluchtbeschermingsmasker.
