Original DDR Stasi shoulder boards for Gefreiter

Original East German shoulder boards for the rank of Gefreiter used by the Ministerium für Staatssicherheit, commonly known as the Stasi.
These shoulder boards were part of the uniform equipment used by the security services of the German Democratic Republic during the Cold War.
The Stasi was the secret police of East Germany that monitored the population, suppressed opposition, and conducted extensive domestic and foreign intelligence operations during the Cold War.
The boards are made from the typical grey uniform cloth used on DDR military and security service uniforms.
Along the edge runs the characteristic burgundy red waffenfarbe which was specifically used for the Ministry for State Security.
This burgundy colored branch piping served as a distinctive identification color within the DDR security and military uniform system.
A silver rank stripe is present on the shoulder boards indicating the rank of Gefreiter.
On the reverse side the original fabric attachment loops are still present allowing the boards to be mounted on the uniform.
Such shoulder boards were worn by Stasi personnel on both service and field uniforms.

Originele DDR Stasi schouderstukken voor Gefreiter 

Originele Oost-Duitse schouderstukken voor de rang Gefreiter afkomstig van het Ministerium für Staatssicherheit, beter bekend als de Stasi.
Deze schouderstukken maken deel uit van de uniformuitrusting van de veiligheidsdiensten van de Duitse Democratische Republiek tijdens de Koude Oorlog.
De Stasi was de geheime politie van Oost-Duitsland die tijdens de Koude Oorlog de bevolking controleerde, oppositie onderdrukte en uitgebreide binnen- en buitenlandse spionage uitvoerde.
De schouderstukken zijn uitgevoerd in het typische grijze uniformdoek dat gebruikt werd voor DDR veiligheids- en militaire uniformen.
Langs de rand bevindt zich de karakteristieke bordeauxrode waffenfarbe die specifiek werd gebruikt voor het Ministerium für Staatssicherheit.
Deze bordeauxrode kleur diende als onderscheidende wapenkleur binnen de verschillende uniformonderdelen van de DDR veiligheidsstructuren.
Op de schouderstukken is een zilverkleurige rangstreep aangebracht die de rang van Gefreiter aanduidt.
Aan de achterzijde bevinden zich de originele stoffen bevestigingslussen waarmee de schouderstukken aan het uniform konden worden bevestigd.
Dergelijke schouderstukken werden gedragen door personeel van de Stasi op dienstuniformen en velduniformen.
Het Ministerium für Staatssicherheit speelde een centrale rol in de binnenlandse veiligheid en inlichtingendienst van de DDR.
Een origineel paar schouderstukken dat een interessant stuk vormt binnen een collectie Oost-Duitse militaire en politieke geschiedenis.
