Original WWII USAAF AN-H-15 flight cap

Original USAAF AN-H-15 flying helmet from the period of the Second World War.
This flight helmet is in used condition and was worn by pilots and crew members of the United States Army Air Forces during operational missions.
The AN-H-15 model was designed as a lightweight summer flying helmet used together with oxygen masks and communication equipment.
The helmet is made from khaki cotton and features reinforced openings for radio earphones.
Inside the helmet the characteristic padded ear cushions are present which helped reduce the high noise levels inside aircraft.
The original label is still present and shows the specification “SPEC AN-H-15”, size Extra Large and United States Army Air Forces.
This type of helmet was commonly worn together with oxygen masks such as the A-14 or A-10 during missions over Europe and the Pacific.
The AN-H-15 became a recognizable part of the flight gear used by American bomber and fighter crews during World War II.

Originele Amerikaanse USAAF AN-H-15 flying helmet uit de periode van de Tweede Wereldoorlog.
Deze vlieghelm in gebruikte conditie werd gedragen door piloten en bemanningsleden van de United States Army Air Forces tijdens operationele vluchten.
Het model AN-H-15 werd ontwikkeld als lichte zomer vlieghelm voor gebruik in combinatie met zuurstofmaskers en communicatieapparatuur.
De helm is vervaardigd uit khaki katoen en voorzien van verstevigde openingen voor radio-oorschelpen.
Binnenin zijn de karakteristieke geluidsdempende oorkussens aanwezig die bescherming boden tegen het hoge geluidsniveau in vliegtuigen.
Het originele label is nog aanwezig en vermeldt onder andere “SPEC AN-H-15”, maat Extra Large en de United States Army Air Forces.
Deze helm werd vaak gedragen in combinatie met zuurstofmaskers zoals de A-14 of A-10 tijdens missies boven Europa en de Pacific.
