Original WWII Dutch photo of Allied food droppings in Amsterdam

Original Dutch photograph from 1945 showing Allied aircraft flying over Amsterdam during the food relief flights at the end of the Second World War.
The image shows a formation of Allied bombers flying low over the city during the famous food drop missions carried out to help the starving Dutch population.
In the foreground people can be seen standing on the rooftops watching the aircraft pass overhead.
In the background the characteristic apartment building at Victorieplein is visible, which was known at the time as Daniël Willinkplein in Amsterdam-South.
These flights were part of the Allied food relief operations conducted at the end of the war following the Dutch Hunger Winter of 1944-1945.
A remarkable historical photograph from the final phase of the Second World War and an interesting collectible for collectors of Dutch liberation photography and WWII memorabilia.

Originele WWII Nederlandse foto van Geallieerde voedseldroppingen in Amsterdam-Zuid 

Originele Nederlandse foto uit 1945 waarop geallieerde vliegtuigen boven Amsterdam vliegen tijdens de voedseldroppingen aan het einde van de Tweede Wereldoorlog.
Op de foto is een formatie geallieerde bommenwerpers te zien die laag over de stad vliegen tijdens de bekende voedseldroppingen die plaatsvonden om de hongerende Nederlandse bevolking te helpen.
Op de voorgrond staan Amsterdammers op de daken van woningen terwijl zij de overvliegende vliegtuigen observeren.
Op de achtergrond is duidelijk de flat aan het Victorieplein zichtbaar, destijds bekend als het Daniël Willinkplein in Amsterdam-Zuid.
Deze historische vluchten maakten onderdeel uit van de geallieerde voedseldroppingsoperaties aan het einde van de oorlog, waarbij voedsel werd gedropt boven Nederland na de Hongerwinter van 1944-1945.
Een bijzonder historisch beeld uit de laatste fase van de Tweede Wereldoorlog en een interessant verzamelobject voor verzamelaars van Nederlandse bevrijdingsfotografie en WO2 memorabilia.
